Gidi Etzion holds a BSc and MSc in Computer Science, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

In 2012, Gidi joined the Azrieli Jerusalem College of Engineering (JCE) board of directors as an industry representative. In 2023, Gidi joined JCE as Vice President of Innovation and External Relations. At JCE, Gidi leads Industry Relations, the Alumni and Career Placement department, Fundraising, Research including IP and Commercialization of JCE faculty applied research, and the college's International Relations, as well as the AToBe Startup accelerator with its associated programs and partnerships.

Before JCE, Gidi served as Senior Director at Intel Corporation (INTC) where he worked for twenty-one years. In his last position,  Gidi led the Intel PC Group security and functional critical issue resolution team. Before that, Gidi led a global engineering group in PC Client Customer Engineering (Professional Services), supporting tier-1 computer manufacturers integrating, validating and manufacturing the PC in USA, Israel, Taiwan, China and Japan.

Gidi lives in walking distance from the college and has three grown children.
