Dr. Rafi Aviram – VP and Director General
Dr. Rafi Aviram became the Director General of Azrieli College of Engineering Jerusalem on September 1st 2017. He was appoint Vice President for Administration on April 2018. Between December 2009 and August 2017 he was the Executive Director of the Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences (ELSC) at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In addition, on June 2015, he was appointed as the spacial Envoyé to the Hebrew University President for Strategic Projects with China and Azerbaijan.
During his work for the Hebrew University, he was part of the team that established the Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences (ELSC) and constructed the Suzanne and Charles Goodman Brain Sciences Building.
Between March 2005 and November 2009, he worked for the Friend of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), first as Managing Director in New York City and subsequently as the organization's representative in Israel. During his work for the FIDF, he was responsible for the construction of many capital projects in military bases.
He earns his Doctorate Degree of Professional Studies in Business from Pace University in New York; his dissertation deals with Isomorphism of Internal Audit Functions in Higher Education Institutes in Israel. He holds an MBA, Magna Cum Laude from from Tel Aviv University and a B.Sc. Physics and Atmospheric Sciences, Magna Cum Laude from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Dr. Aviram retired from the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) at the rank of a Colonel after 24 years of service in commanding and staff positions. He continues to serve as a Brigade Commander at the reserve forces of the IDF.
